Brisbane Device Preservation
Brisbane, Australia

You didn't want to let it go — and you don't have to yet.

When a phone dies with your photos, messages, or voice recordings still inside, the loss is real. We assess your device truthfully, and then do one of three things: help you recover it now, safely preserve it, or tell you straight when it can't be done.

Assessments are honest and carry no obligation.

How it works

Three honest outcomes

Every device we see ends in one of three places. We'll tell you which one applies to yours, in plain language, before you pay for anything.

Recover now

The data can be reached today

For some devices, the data is recoverable with tools that exist right now. We assess yours, and if it qualifies, we connect you with a specialist recovery lab and handle everything in between — the logistics, the questions, the waiting.

Preserve

Not today — but the door isn't closed

For many modern phones, no tool available today can open them, and we can't promise that will ever change. What we can do is keep your device intact and safely stored, so the possibility isn't lost. Some older device generations have become accessible years later — we hold onto that chance for you, without ever pretending it's a certainty.

Not recoverable

The honest no

Sometimes the truthful answer is that a device can't be recovered now or in the foreseeable future. When that's the case, we tell you plainly. We'll hold it as a keepsake if that matters to you, but we will never take payment on a false hope.

Preservation & custody

What safekeeping actually means

Preservation is a storage service, not a recovery promise. Here is exactly what you're paying for, and what happens to your device while it's with us.

Why preserving matters

Data recovery techniques improve in fits and starts. More than once, device generations that were considered sealed have become readable years after the fact, when new hardware methods emerged. Nobody could have promised that in advance — and we won't promise it to you now.

What preservation does is simple: it keeps the device whole, undamaged, and findable, so that if that day comes for your device's generation, you haven't already lost the chance.

If it never comes, you've kept something that mattered, safely, on your own terms — and you can bring it home whenever you want.

Climate-controlled storage

Stable temperature and humidity, powered down, in conditions chosen to keep hardware intact for the long term.

Insured and itemised

Every device is individually logged, photographed on intake, and covered by insurance. You receive a custody record you can check at any time.

Cancel any time

Preservation is month to month. Cancel whenever you like and we'll return your device promptly, with a pro-rata refund for any unused time.

Never locked away

If this business ever ceases operating, every device is returned to its owner. Your device belongs to you — always.

Each device rests in its own labelled archival pouch — powered down, padded, and shelved.
On intake, every device is photographed and given an itemised custody record.
Stable temperature and humidity, monitored continuously.
No cost, no obligation

Request an assessment

Tell us a little about the device and what's on it. We'll come back to you with an honest read on where it stands — no pressure attached.

"Not sure" is a completely fine answer.

This matters more than you'd think.

Whatever the situation, you'll get a truthful answer. If your device can't be helped, we'll say so — plainly and kindly — and it won't cost you anything to hear it.

Thank you — we've received your request.

We'll read it carefully and reply within two business days with an honest first take on your device. There's nothing you need to do in the meantime, and no obligation attached to anything we send back.

If the device is fragile or damaged, please don't try to charge or power it on — leaving it exactly as it is gives it the best chance.

The hard questions

The honest FAQ

We'd rather answer these here, truthfully, than have you find out later.

Will you actually recover my data?

Sometimes yes. Often, honestly, no. It depends almost entirely on the device: how old it is, how it was locked, and what happened to it. Older devices, devices without strong encryption, and devices with hardware faults (rather than lock-outs) have the best chances today.

The assessment exists to tell you which group yours is in. If recovery is realistic now, we'll say so and connect you with a specialist lab. If it isn't, we'll say that too — before you've paid us anything.

Why can't many modern phones be recovered?

Modern phones encrypt everything on them, and the key to that encryption is built from your passcode combined with hardware inside the phone itself. Without the passcode, the data isn't hidden — it's mathematically scrambled, and no lab, anywhere, can unscramble it today.

One detail matters a lot: a short PIN protected by the phone's hardware has more of a chance over the long term than a long typed password. A long password is, in practical terms, a permanent wall. We'll always tell you which side of that line your device sits on.

What am I actually paying for with preservation?

Safe custody and a preserved possibility — explicitly not a recovery guarantee. Your fee covers climate-controlled, insured, itemised storage, and the assurance that your device stays intact and findable in case its generation ever becomes recoverable.

We will never charge you for recovery work we can't do, and we'll never describe preservation as anything more than what it is: careful safekeeping.

What happens to my device if you go out of business?

It comes back to you. Every device in custody is logged with its owner's contact details, and returning devices to their owners is a standing commitment of this business — including if it closes. Your device will never be abandoned, sold, or held indefinitely.

Is there any pressure or urgency to decide?

No. A powered-down device kept somewhere dry and stable isn't deteriorating quickly. Take the time you need. The one thing we do suggest: if the device is damaged, don't try to charge it or turn it on — that's the only common way to make things worse.

Can you get around the passcode for me?

No — and anyone who tells you they can bypass a modern phone's encryption for a fee should be treated with real caution. We only work with devices belonging to you or an estate you're authorised to act for, and we're upfront about what today's legitimate techniques can and can't do.

Start with the truth

One conversation, one honest answer about where your device stands. That's all an assessment is.
